Mother Teresa Sister released on bail after 15 months in prison without trial
A nun from Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity order has been released on bail after 15 months in a prison in India.
She was arrested on charges of human trafficking after one of her co-workers allegedly took money for facilitating an adoption. After those charges were dropped, she remained in prison, despite all others involved in the case being granted a swift release.
Supporters claimed her imprisonment was an attempt to harm the Church in India.
