The disturbing treatment of a pro-life student midwife
ADF International Legal Counsel, Laurence Wilkinson says the case of a student midwife suspended from her university course over her pro-life views marks a shocking escalation in the continuing inability of universities to secure free speech on campus.
Writing in the Spectator, he notes that student unions across the county have sought to prevent pro-life societies from affiliating on the basis that their ‘values’ are out of line with those of the student body.
Student representative bodies at Nottingham, Glasgow, Strathclyde, and Aberdeen have all had to reverse their decisions to refuse affiliation to pro-life groups after the groups raised the prospect of legal proceedings.
