External Relations Manager

ADF International is looking for a highly professional External Relations Manager to join us in our London office. As External Relations Manager you are a vital part of the ADF International team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing ADF UK development projects. You will be in charge of a small team (2 people).  The External Relations Manager will support the Director, ADF (UK) in managing key external development-related people and communities, managing the strategic growth plans for the UK charity as well as the team processes that enable sustainable growth and brand awareness.

Your Essential Responsibilities:

In this position, you will:

  • Manage the Development Team of ADF UK.
  • Create and execute the annual strategic development plan, key performance indicators, and quarterly reviews alongside the Director, ADF (UK).
  • Plan and oversee of the Development Team meetings, projects, and team members assignments.
  • Create and manage development-related events.
  • File trust applications.
  • Relationships with major donors.
  • Keep the oversight of the digital development strategy.
  • Continue the production of supporter-facing assets, including educational resources.
  • Manage Development and alumni-related contractor relationships.
  • Manage regulatory compliance, including GDPR (alongside Corporate Counsel).
  • Create and edit presentations, correspondence, memos, reports, graphs, and other documentation as necessary.
  • Manage direct reports according to the internal guidelines and principles of ADF International (including regular meetings and performance reviews).

As a Team Leader, you will:

  •  Act as a servant leader by training, encouraging, coaching, and developing your Team Members.
  • ·Foster a spirit of trust and of innovation on your team.
  •  Meet regularly with your Team Members to discuss their progress and complete performance reviews.
  • Approve PTO requests, timecards, and expense reports.

Other Responsibilities:

You may be asked to perform related duties or special projects as assigned within the general scope of the position.


Skills you need to succeed:

  • Ability to initiate, work, and motivate within a team and independently.
  • Ability to analyze and track digital data relating to web traffic, donor profiling, and online spending.
  • Project and events management.
  • Strong administrative skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet Explorer.
  • Experience using and reading the results of industry-standard data storage, CRM, digital advertising, mass emailer, and web analytics software.
  • Proven excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills in English.
  • Proven excellent customer service skills.
  • Ability to professionally handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
  • Ability to make sound decisions under demanding conditions.
  • Ability to manage direct reports.

Education and/or experience:

  • Requires 3 years of experience in project management and managing direct reports.
  • Preferred experience includes entity growth planning and administration.


Valid work permit or UK citizenship required.
