The Universal Declaration of Human Rights at 70

In 1948, with the adoption of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, world leaders launched the human rights project rooted in the inherent dignity of every person.

The Declaration ushered in an unprecedented approach to human rights as belonging to ‘all members of the human family’—a timeless, and yet groundbreaking, understanding of the universality of human rights.

In commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, ADF International launched the campaign, I’m Human, Right? and The Geneva Statement to reaffirm the understanding that fundamental human rights are based on the dignity that each person possesses, and to call upon the international community to recommit to the urgent work of ensuring human rights for all.
