britischer Afghanistan-Veteran, wurde wegen eines dreimin\u00fctigen stillen Gebets in der N\u00e4he eines Abtreibungseinrichtung verurteilt. Damit ist er der erste B\u00fcrger in der j\u00fcngeren Geschichte Gro\u00dfbritanniens, der allein wegen seiner Gedanken strafrechtlich belangt wurde.<\/p><p>Am 16. Oktober 2024 sprach das Friedensgericht (Bournemouth Magistrates&#8216; Court) ihn schuldig und verh\u00e4ngte eine bedingte Entlassung (\u201econditional discharge\u201c) sowie die Zahlung von Gerichtskosten in H\u00f6he von 9.000 Pfund (etwa 10.700 Euro). Diese Form der Verurteilung entspricht in etwa der Strafaussetzung zur Bew\u00e4hrung im deutschen Recht. Mit Unterst\u00fctzung von ADF UK legte Smith-Connor Berufung gegen das Urteil ein. Der Fall wird am 28. Juli 2025 vor dem Strafgericht (Bournemouth Crown Court) verhandelt \u2013 mehr als zweieinhalb Jahre nach Beginn des Verfahrens.<\/p><p>Verurteilt wurde Adam Smith-Connor, weil er im stillen Gebet seines ungeborenen Sohnes gedachte, den er vor 22 Jahren durch eine Abtreibung verlor. Zugleich betete er f\u00fcr alle Frauen und M\u00e4nner, die sich an jenem Tag mit der schwierigen Entscheidung f\u00fcr oder gegen eine Abtreibung konfrontiert sahen. Um die Privatsph\u00e4re der Besucher zu wahren, stand der Veteran mit dem R\u00fccken zum Zentrum. Eine \u00f6rtliche Verordnung verbot jedoch das Gebet als \u201eAusdruck der Zustimmung oder Ablehnung von Abtreibung\u201c auf dieser \u00f6ffentlichen Stra\u00dfe. Diese \u201cZensurzonen\u201d wurden durch eine lokale Verordnung, die \u201cPublic Spaces Protection Order (PSPO)\u201d, eingef\u00fchrt. Sie verbieten unter Strafe jede Form der \u201cHandlung\u201d oder gar \u201cversuchten Handlung\u201d rund um die \u201eBilligung\/Ablehnung\u201d jeglicher Form von Abtreibungsleistungen.<\/p><p>Unter das Verbot fallen auch \u201egrafische, m\u00fcndliche oder schriftliche Mittel, Gebete oder Beratung\u201c im Umfeld von Abtreibungszentren. Ebenso untersagt die Verordnung religi\u00f6se Handlungen wie das Lesen der Bibel, das Beten oder das Bekreuzigen.<\/p><p>Nach der Verurteilung von Adam Smith-Connor hat die zentrale Strafverfolgungsbeh\u00f6rde f\u00fcr England, der Crown Prosecution Service (CPS), ihre Richtlinien pr\u00e4zisiert: Stilles Gebet in sogenannten Zensurzonen sei \u201enicht zwangsl\u00e4ufig strafbar\u201c, solange es nicht \u201eoffensiv ge\u00e4u\u00dfert\u201c werde.
