a lifelong Glaswegian &#8211; stood peacefully within 200 metres of Glasgow\u2019s Queen Elizabeth II Hospital campus holding a sign that read:<\/p><p><em>\u201cCoercion is a crime, here to talk, only if you want.\u201d<\/em><\/p><p>Her quiet presence fell within the so-called \u201cbuffer zone\u201d around the hospital, where a new law prohibits harassment, intimidation, or influencing decisions about abortion. Despite engaging in none of these activities, Rose was arrested and later offered a formal warning requiring her to admit wrongdoing and refrain from similar actions in future.<\/p><p>Refusing to compromise her conscience by admitting to an offence she did not commit, Docherty &#8211; supported by the legal team at ADF International &#8211; rejected the warning outright. This week, the Procurator Fiscal confirmed the case has been dropped and the warning withdrawn.<\/p><p><b>Reacting to the news, Rose Docherty said:<\/b><\/p><p style=\"margin: 12.0pt 0cm 12.0pt 0cm;\">\u201c<i>This is a victory not just for me, but for everyone in Scotland who believes we should be free to hold a peaceful conversation.<\/i><\/p><p style=\"margin: 12.0pt 0cm 12.0pt 0cm;\">&#8222;<i>I stood with love and compassion, ready to listen to anyone who wanted to talk. Criminalising kindness has no place in a free society.\u201d<\/i><\/p><p style=\"margin: 12.0pt 0cm 12.0pt 0cm;\"><b>Lorcan Price, Irish Barrister and Legal Counsel for ADF International, <\/a>that prayer by a window in one\u2019s own home could be an offence within a buffer zone \u2013 depending on who is passing by.<\/p><p>Speaking to BBC\u2019s \u201cScotcast\u201d Podcast, the Green Party Politician repeatedly denied that prayer was being criminalised under the law.\u00a0<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-50 elementor-inner-column elementor-element elementor-element-3fc28d4f\" data-id=\"3fc28d4f\" data-element_type=\"column\" data-e-type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div window\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/p><p style=\"margin: 12.0pt 0cm 12.0pt 0cm;\">The admission came despite previously accusing US President JD Vance of spreading \u201c<i>shameless misinformation<\/i>\u201d when he highlighted concerns that \u201c<i>even private prayer within [people\u2019s] own homes may amount to breaking the law<\/i>\u201d in his Munich Security Conference Speech earlier this year.<\/p><p style=\"margin: 12.0pt 0cm 12.0pt 0cm;\"><b>Lois McLatchie Miller, Scottish spokesperson for ADF International, said:<\/b>\u00a0<\/p><p style=\"margin: 12.0pt 0cm 12.0pt 0cm;\"><i>\u201c<\/i><i>We were concerned when such legislation was proposed that we\u2019d witness a slippery slope of censorship. Less than a year after the law coming into force, Gillian Mackay has admitted that it could impact silent prayer even in private homes, depending on who\u2019s passing by the window. And what\u2019s more, we\u2019ve seen an innocent grandmother arrested just for offering conversation. Who are the authorities to determine which conversations, thoughts, or prayers members of the public do or don\u2019t want to have?\u201d<\/i><\/p><p style=\"margin: 12.0pt 0cm 12.0pt 0cm;\">ADF International will continue to offer legal support to individuals like Rose Docherty, defending the right to peacefully engage in conversation or prayer without fear of
