Human Rights Council in Geneva has adopted a resolution to condemn, \u201cin the strongest possible terms\u201d,\u00a0the\u00a0ongoing\u00a0violations\u00a0and abuses of human rights\u00a0perpetrated\u00a0in Afghanistan,\u00a0including against persons belonging to religious minorities.<\/span><span the first time since the outbreak of the crisis in Afghanistan, a UN resolution has explicitly called for strict respect for freedom of religion or\u00a0belief,\u00a0and\u00a0urged the international community to adjust their\u00a0engagement\u00a0with\u00a0any future Afghan government\u00a0depending \u201con respect for the human rights and fundamental freedoms of all Afghans, including women, girls, children, and persons belonging to ethnic and religious minorities.\u201d Furthermore,\u00a0in accordance with the calls of several faith-based NGOs\u00a0including ADF International,\u00a0the resolution, adopted by\u00a0a vote of 28 \u201cyes\u201d, 5 \u201cno\u201d and 14 abstentions,\u00a0establishes\u00a0a dedicated mechanism\u00a0tasked with\u00a0monitoring\u00a0the situation of human rights as it develops in the country.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u201cNobody should be persecuted because of their faith.\u00a0In Afghanistan, members of religious minorities<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">including Christians<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">,\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">have been forced to flee a certain death\u00a0orgo\u00a0into hiding in remote areas of the country, stranded and with no hope of rescue<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">We are\u00a0pleased\u00a0that the UN Human Rights Council has finally heard their desperate\u00a0plight and\u00a0heeded\u00a0the appeals of faith-based organizations\u00a0to\u00a0join in condemning\u00a0all acts of<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">\u00a0<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">religiously motivated\u00a0violence\u00a0and\u00a0urging full\u00a0respect for freedom of religion or belief,\u201d said Giorgio Mazzoli, representing ADF International at the Human Rights Council in Geneva<\/span><span data-contrast=\"auto\">.<\/span><span serious\u00a0jeopardy. Reports detail the execution of persons found on public transportation with Bible software found on their smartphones. Furthermore, the Taliban are already publicizing plans to \u201ceradicate the ignorance of irreligion\u201d by taking non-Muslim women and girls as sex slaves and forcing boys to serve as soldiers.<\/span><span data-ccp-props=\"{&quot;201341983&quot;:0,&quot;335551550&quot;:6,&quot;335551620&quot;:6,&quot;335559739&quot;:0,&quot;335559740&quot;:257}\">\u00a0<\/span><\/p><p><span data-contrast=\"auto\">Today\u2019s outcome\u00a0represents\u00a0a\u00a0marked\u00a0change\u00a0from the Human Rights Council\u2019s\u00a0previous\u00a0resolution on the situation in Afghanistan.
