<\/strong>\u2018Billboard Chris\u2019 &#8211; the activist known for wearing a sandwich board reading \u201c<em>children cannot consent to puberty blockers<\/em>\u201d and engaging in conversations in viral videos across the world &#8211; has mounted a legal defence of free speech in Australia, with support from ADF International.<\/p><p>Chris Elston, known as Billboard Chris, a Canadian father of two, took to \u201cX\u201d (formerly Twitter) on 28<sup>th<\/sup> February 2024 to share a Daily Mail article titled \u201c<em>Kinky secrets of a UN trans expert REVEALED<\/em>\u201d.<\/p><p>The article, and accompanying tweet, criticised the suitability of transgender activist Teddy Cook to be appointed to a World Health Organization \u201cpanel of experts\u201d set to advise on global transgender policy.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-70e58739 elementor-blockquote--skin-border elementor-widget elementor-widget-blockquote\" data-id=\"70e58739\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"blockquote.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<blockquote class=\"elementor-blockquote\">\n\t\t\t<p class=\"elementor-blockquote__content\">\n\t\t\t\t<span style=\"color: #AF272F\">\"As a father, I have grave concerns about the impact of harmful gender ideology on our children\u2019s wellbeing...<\/span>we need to be able to discuss it.\"\t\t\t<\/p>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-q-footer\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<cite class=\"elementor-blockquote__author\">- \"Billboard Chris\", in a legal battle for free speech with support from ADF International<\/cite>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/blockquote>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-250aa0c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"250aa0c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p style=\"color: #54575c;\">Cook complained about the post to Australia\u2019s eSafety Commissioner, who requested that \u201cX\u201d remove the content. The social media platform owned by free speech advocate Elon Musk initially refused, but following a subsequent formal removal order from the Commission, later geo-blocked the content in Australia. For expressing their views on biological sex, both have been ordered to publish a court-written apology on X every day for 30 days, 3 times a day, as a form of public humiliation. ADF International is seeking justice for both men at the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights.<\/p><p>In Finland, parliamentarian P\u00e4ivi R\u00e4s\u00e4nen, a former government minister and grandmother, is currently being <a href=\"https:\/\/adfinternational.org\/campaign\/free-speech-on-trial\">prosecuted<\/a> before the Supreme Court, having been criminally charged for \u201chate speech\u201d for a 2019 Bible-verse tweet. She was charged under the Finnish criminal code\u2019s section on \u201cWar Crimes and Crimes Against Humanity,\u201d carrying a maximum sentence of 2 years imprisonment. ADF International is supporting her legal defence.<\/p><p>At the international level, the European Commission is advancing efforts to make \u201chate speech\u201d an EU crime, on the same legal level as trafficking and terrorism. Initiatives such as the EU Code of Practice on Disinformation could have significant implications for how governments police speech, especially as European Commission VP V\u011bra Jourov\u00e1 singled out X for \u201cthe largest ratio of mis\/disinformation posts\u201d.<\/p><p>In November 2023, free speech champions across the world signed an <a href=\"https:\/\/adfinternational.org\/open-letter-to-elon\">open letter to Elon Musk<\/a>, coordinated by ADF International, requesting he back legal cases against government-enforced censorship of posts on X.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-750e9558 elementor-widget-divider--view-line elementor-widget
