Las autoridades suizas hab\u00edan rechazado su solicitud de asilo por motivos religiosos. El hombre, conocido por las iniciales \u00abM.A.M\u00bb, recurri\u00f3 su deportaci\u00f3n bas\u00e1ndose en su conversi\u00f3n del islam al cristianismo, una religi\u00f3n conocida por ser objeto de graves persecuciones en algunas partes del sur de Asia. El grupo de derechos humanos ADF International ha intervenido ante el m\u00e1ximo tribunal europeo ofreciendo informaci\u00f3n actualizada sobre la situaci\u00f3n de los conversos en la regi\u00f3n y destacando las s\u00f3lidas protecciones legales que existen no solo para creer en algo, sino para poder vivir de acuerdo con esas creencias. Las sentencias del tribunal afectan a m\u00e1s de 800 millones de europeos en 47 pa\u00edses.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abNadie debe ser perseguido por su fe. Pakist\u00e1n es uno de los pa\u00edses m\u00e1s peligrosos para los cristianos con sus leyes draconianas sobre la blasfemia y la creciente violencia contra los grupos cristianos. Los conversos se enfrentan no s\u00f3lo a la marginaci\u00f3n sociopol\u00edtica y a la discriminaci\u00f3n institucionalizada, sino tambi\u00e9n a acusaciones de blasfemia, detenciones, largas penas de prisi\u00f3n y violencia de las turbas parapoliciales. La detenci\u00f3n de cristianos conlleva sistem\u00e1ticamente malos tratos y abusos, tanto f\u00edsicos como psicol\u00f3gicos. Incluso cuando son liberados, los cristianos conversos deben esconderse o huir por su seguridad, ya que sus amigos y vecinos suelen volverse contra ellos. Estos factores deben formar parte de cualquier evaluaci\u00f3n de riesgo para aquellos que, como M.A.M, solicitan asilo por motivos religiosos\u00bb, dijo Jennifer Lea, asesora jur\u00eddica de ADF International en el Tribunal Europeo de Derechos Humanos de Estrasburgo.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Llamamiento a la acci\u00f3n internacional en medio de las alarmantes amenazas a los cristianos conversos<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Aunque el Tribunal Administrativo Federal de Suiza afirm\u00f3 que la conversi\u00f3n de M.A.M. era cre\u00edble y que se produjo antes de que se le denegara el asilo, consider\u00f3 que sus derechos a la vida, a la protecci\u00f3n contra el trato inhumano y a la libertad de pensamiento, conciencia o religi\u00f3n no estar\u00edan en peligro si se le devolviera a Pakist\u00e1n.<\/p>\n<p>Pakist\u00e1n se encuentra actualmente en el n\u00famero 5 de la Lista de Observaci\u00f3n Mundial que clasifica a los pa\u00edses en funci\u00f3n de su nivel de persecuci\u00f3n de los cristianos. El nivel de persecuci\u00f3n se clasifica como \u00abextremo\u00bb debido, en parte, a sus leyes sobre la blasfemia que conllevan la pena de muerte. Los conversos del Islam se consideran ap\u00f3statas y corren un riesgo considerable.<\/p>\n<p>El caso de Asia Bibi, mujer acusada de blasfemia y condenada a muerte durante ocho a\u00f1os hasta que fue absuelta, es un ejemplo bien conocido de la amenaza existente. Tras su absoluci\u00f3n, se produjeron violentas manifestaciones en todo Pakist\u00e1n que amenazaban su vida. Tras una intensa presi\u00f3n internacional, finalmente se le permiti\u00f3 salir y posteriormente solicit\u00f3 asilo en Canad\u00e1.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Matrimonios forzados de menores<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Los abogados aliados de ADF International est\u00e1n prestando apoyo al caso de Maira en los tribunales pakistan\u00edes. Esta ni\u00f1a de 14 a\u00f1os fue secuestrada, violada y casada en el marco de una \u00abconversi\u00f3n forzosa\u00bb a la que se enfrent\u00f3 por ser cristiana. Maira espera escondida mientras su equipo jur\u00eddico pro bono trabaja para anular este certificado de matrimonio. Su historia es s\u00f3lo un ejemplo de un fen\u00f3meno violento que afecta a unas 1.000 ni\u00f1as de minor\u00edas religiosas en Pakist\u00e1n cada a\u00f1o.<\/p>\n<p>\u00abEl derecho internacional protege el derecho a expresar la propia fe en p\u00fablico y en privado. Pero, en Pakist\u00e1n, los meros intentos de los cristianos de hablar sobre la fe con los vecinos musulmanes pueden ser perseguidos en virtud de las leyes sobre blasfemia que pueden acarrear la pena de muerte. Los casos de Asia Bibi y Maira, que acapararon la atenci\u00f3n de los medios de comunicaci\u00f3n internacionales, son ejemplos muy reales de la persecuci\u00f3n a la que se enfrentan muchos cristianos.
