- ADF International to host 70 year commemoration of Universal Declaration of Human Rights
- Focus on I’m Human, Right? campaign
NEW DELHI (21 November 2018) – On 22 November, ADF International in association with its allies will be hosting an event to celebrate the 70 year anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The event will focus on the I’m Human, Right? campaign which calls governments from all over the world to preserve human dignity and protect human rights. The event will feature a talk by Ms. Rebecca M. John, Senior Counsel, on the topic of “Human rights, freedom of religion and criminal law.”
“We hope the I’m Human, Right? campaign will draw attention to the violations of basic fundamental freedoms faced by religious minorities and Christians across the globe. We encourage the international community to no longer be silent on these issues and ensure that countries who continue to violate fundamental human rights are held accountable,” said Tehmina Arora, Director, ADF India.
Call for new commitments from the international community
The I’m Human, Right? campaign urges the United Nations and the international community to uphold the right to life, to family, and to religious freedom as was originally intended by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. This will be presented to the UN in the form of The Geneva Statement with supporting signatures. As a signatory to the Universal Declaration and the world’s largest democracy, India’s role in this campaign is vital. Find The Geneva Statement at ImHumanRight.org.
