BRUSSELS (26 November 2018) –On 28 November, ADF International, with Marijana Petir MEP and Charles Tannock MEP, will co-host a panel discussion at the European Parliament in commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. It is entitled, “The Universal Declaration of Human Rights at 70: Foundations, Achievement, and its Legacy for Europe.” The speakers will discuss the continued relevance of this foundational human rights document and the responsibility of the international community to protect the fundamental freedoms it outlines.
In the run-up to the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, we urge world leaders and the international community to reaffirm the inherent dignity of every human being
“In the run-up to the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, we urge world leaders and the international community to reaffirm the inherent dignity of every human being and to protect the fundamental freedoms of every person without exception. The European Union has a particular responsibility and should strengthen its promotion and protection of human rights,” said Adina Portaru, Legal Counsel for ADF International in Brussels.
On 10 December, the day of the anniversary of the Universal Declaration, ADF International will deliver thousands of signatures from over 170 countries in support of The Geneva Statement. It urges the international community to uphold the fundamental right to life, family, and religious freedom, as recognized by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The I’m Human, Right? campaign continues to collect signatures for The Geneva Statement and calls for new commitments from the international community. Find The Geneva Statement at ImHumanRight.org.
