- Leading academics to discuss state of global human rights after 70 years
- I’m Human, Right? campaign urges recommitment of international community
NEW YORK (23 November 2018) –On 4 December, the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the United Nations and ADF International will be hosting a panel discussion event commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. The event is titled “The Universal Declaration of Human Rights at 70: Its Foundations, Achievements, and Violations” and the speakers will discuss the continued relevance of this foundational document and the responsibility of the international community to protect the fundamental freedoms it outlines. Speakers will include Mary Ann Glendon, Robert P. George, Paolo Carozza, Archbishop Auza, and Michael Farris.
“In the run-up to the 70th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of the Human Rights, we urge the United Nations, world leaders, and the international community to reaffirm the inherent dignity of every human being and to promote fundamental freedoms for every person without exception,” said Paul Coleman, Executive Director of ADF International.
I’m Human, Right? campaign
On 10 December, the day of the anniversary of the Universal Declaration, ADF International will deliver thousands of signatures from over 170 countries in support of The Geneva Statement. It urges the international community to uphold the fundamental right to life, family, and religious freedom, as recognized by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.
