BRUSSELS – On 17 February, ADF International will co-host an event at the European Parliament in Brussels on the genocide of Christians and other religious minorities in the Middle East.

The situation of Christians and members of other religious minorities in Syria and Iraq is complex

The situation of Christians and members of other religious minorities in Syria and Iraq is complex. In the last two weeks, the Council of Europe and then the European Parliament published resolutions that defined the deliberate targeting of religious minority groups by ISIS as genocide and called upon the wider international community to act.

Swedish MEP Lars Adaktusson, who is sponsoring the event, has invited victims of the genocide to give testimony and share their experiences regarding the current situation in the Middle East.

Speakers at the event:

  • Gregory Stanton, president of Genocide Watch, research professor in genocide studies and prevention, George Mason University
  • E. Antoine Chbeir, bishop of Latakia, Syria
  • Douglas Yousif Al-Bazi, Chaldean Catholic Church, Iraq

Requests for interviews with eye-witnesses or legal experts on genocide and international law can be submitted before the event to: globalmedia@adfinternational.org.
