This report examines the societal violence experienced by religious minorities in the Arab Republic of Egypt, alongside legal restrictions on their ability to worship and evangelize. It explains why their right to freedom of religion must be fully respected and protected.

This report examines the legal and societal hostility towards religious minorities in Iraq with regard to anti-conversion laws and the violence shown towards individuals and their property. To comply with obligations under international law, Iraq must fully respect and promote the right to freedom of religion or belief within its borders and provide greater protection for Christian and other minorities.

This UPR report is submitted by a coalition of human rights and faith-based organizations that participate in the International Religious Freedom Roundtable in Washington, D.C. The International Religious Freedom Roundtable is an informal gathering of civil society members, non-governmental organizations, scholars, religious and secular leaders, and government officials that meets regularly in Washington, D.C., to discuss the most pressing issues regarding international religious freedom—especially persecution, violence, and discrimination against individuals and groups based on their religion or belief—and to develop solutions and provide opportunities for collaboration and engagement. A number of signatories have ECOSOC consultative status with the United Nations, and have accreditation with the European Commission and Parliament, and the Organization of American States.

This report explains the current state of freedom of religion or belief in Turkey and makes recommendations accordingly.

This report investigates the status of freedom of religion or belief and freedom of association in Belarus by examining laws, regulations and practices impairing the full enjoyment or exercise thereof without discrimination. It also calls upon the Belarusian government to cease any such restrictions and amend its laws to ensure that the right to manifest one’s religion, either alone or in community with others and in public or private is fully guaranteed in accordance with existing international human rights standards and instruments.

This report highlights the severe restrictions on freedom of religion in Tajikistan, including barriers to church registration, the unjustified monitoring of religious activities, censoring of religious materials and the prohibition of children from participating in religious activities. It also highlights the impact of the country’s laws and policies on combating extremism on both freedom of religion or belief and freedom of expression.

This report focuses on Tanzania’s persisting challenges relating to the protection and promotion of freedom of religion or belief in the mainland as well as in Zanzibar where Christians continue to experience discrimination and violence. It also highlights Tanzania’s failure to guarantee freedom of expression and how it can improve its severely poor maternal mortality rate.

This report outlines a variety of legal and practical challenges to the right to freedom of religion or belief and freedom of expression in Thailand, especially for religious minorities. Additionally, in light of the recently amended abortion law and the surrounding social pressure, it highlights the challenges with underage pregnancy and the importance of preserving the right to life of the unborn.
