Who We Are
A faith-based legal advocacy organization
Defending Freedom. Seeking Justice.
Alliance Defending Freedom (ADF) International is a faith-based legal advocacy organization that protects fundamental freedoms and promotes the inherent dignity of all people. Working on an international level, we have a full-time presence at all the institutions of strategic international importance. We are accredited by the UN Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), the European Parliament and Commission, and the Organization of American States (OAS). Additionally, we enjoy participatory status with the EU’s Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) and engage regularly with the Organization for Security and Co-operation in Europe (OSCE). On a national level, we work with local partners to provide training, funding, and legal advocacy.
Institutions in Which We Engage
With 193 Member States, the UN’s reach extends around the globe. Because of its widespread influence, the UN is at the centre of the global battle for life, and marriage and family.
Organization of American States
The Organization of American States (OAS) is a multi-national organization designed to preserve state sovereignty while upholding human rights for its 35 Member States throughout Latin America and the Caribbean.
Inter-American Commission on Human Rights
The Commission’s main task is to promote the observance and defense of human rights in Latin America and the Caribbean. It meets several times a year to examine violations of human rights in the region.
Inter-American Court of Human Rights
The Court enforces and interprets the provisions of the American Convention on Human Rights, the main human rights instrument of the OAS. It hears and rules on specific cases, and also issues opinions on matters of legal interpretation.
Council of Europe
The Council of Europe (COE) is Europe’s leading human rights organization and includes 47 Member States. Its mission is to advocate for freedom of expression and of the media, freedom of assembly, equality, and protection of minorities.

European Court of Human Rights
The European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR) rules in cases in which there is an alleged violation of the European Convention on Human Rights. The Court’s decisions affect more than 800 million Europeans across 47 Council of Europe Member States that hold to the Convention.
The EU’s decisions affect millions of European citizens across 28 Member States. Although most of its budget is dedicated to issues such as agriculture, trade, and economics, it is increasingly involved in social policy and human rights activity.
Fundamental Rights Agency
The EU’s Agency for Fundamental Rights (FRA) is tasked with investigating broad issues and trends that relate to the Charter of Fundamental Rights. The charter is the primary human rights instrument of the EU.
