Giorgio Mazzoli serves as Director of UN Advocacy, representing ADF International at the United Nations and other international organizations in Geneva. He leads the organization’s legal advocacy work at the Human Rights Council and its Universal Periodic Review. He is also responsible for engagement with the UN treaty bodies and the World Health Organization.

Experienced in public international law, international human rights law and diplomatic practice, Mazzoli provides diplomats and UN officials with key legal and strategic advice to protect fundamental freedoms and promote the inherent dignity of all people. In particular, he assists delegations with crafting resolutions and legal arguments for negotiations, and engages with various UN human rights bodies and mechanisms through oral and written submissions. He has spoken at numerous meetings and training events on international law and human rights, including at the United Nations Headquarters in New York.

Prior to joining ADF International, Mazzoli practiced law with a large international firm in Rome, where he focused on transnational contract negotiations, intellectual property, and a wide range of civil and commercial disputes. He also served as Legal Fellow and Adviser with the Permanent Observer Mission of the Holy See to the UN in New York from 2016 to 2017, where he participated as a delegate to meetings and consultations on international peace and security, human rights and migration. He began his work with the Mission through an internship in Geneva, where he drafted reports and briefs for the Permanent Observer and key diplomatic staff.

Mazzoli earned his single-cycle master’s degree in law with highest honors from the Sapienza University of Rome in 2016. During his legal studies, he completed a four-week internship with ADF International in Geneva as part of its international law scholarship program. He is fluent in English and French, and speaks conversational Spanish.
