Sophia Kuby serves as director of Strategic Relations & Training for ADF International and is based in Vienna, Austria.
Sophia Kuby serves as director of Strategic Relations & Training for ADF International and is based in Vienna, Austria. She oversees and develops the organization’s training programs and alliance relations internationally with a focus on equipping and connecting the next generation of Christian leaders in the public square. Under her leadership, ADF International has built an alliance of more than 1,000 global partners through the world-class Areté Academy training program. With offices in Vienna, London, Brussels, Geneva, New York, and Washington DC, ADF International maintains a full-time presence at major international institutions including the United Nations, the European Union, and the Organization of American States.
From 2015 to 2018, Kuby served as the director of European Union Advocacy in Brussels, Belgium, where she successfully established a full-time advocacy team and the organization’s strategy for its work with the EU institutions.
Prior to joining ADF International, Kuby was founder and executive director of European Dignity Watch, a non-governmental organization advancing fundamental freedoms and human rights at the EU institutions. She developed the first annual training program for civil society leaders in Europe focused on the defense of fundamental freedoms, the European Advocacy Academy, which has inspired the founding of several advocacy organizations in EU member states that operate and grow to this day. She also co-founded the first European coordination network of 350 civil society leaders. Kuby previously worked as a business consultant for a media group in Munich, Germany.
Fluent in five languages, Kuby is a sought-after public speaker. Her essays and articles have been published in European Yearbook on Human Rights, Herder Korrespondenz, Le Figaro, Euractiv, La Gaceta, Die Tagespost and others. Her most recent publication is a book chapter in El gran debate ausente: Dignidad y trascendencia en el mundo de hoy, Ediciones USS, Chile. Her debut book, an anthropological essay on man’s search for fulfilment and the lack thereof, was written in French and nominated for the award of the Best Christian Book in France 2019 (Il comblera tes désirs. Essai sur la manque et le bonheur, Paris 2018).
Kuby earned an M.A. and B.A. in philosophy from Hochschule für Philosophie in Munich, Germany, graduating summa cum laude. She spent part of her studies at the International Academy of Philosophy at the Catholic University of Santiago de Chile, where she focused on political philosophy and ethics.
