Ukraine (54th Session)

This submission, jointly made by Alliance Defending Freedom International, the Casablanca Declaration, and Juristes pour l’Enfance, addresses Ukraine’s surrogacy legislation’s incompatibility with its obligations under international human rights law to protect the rights of women and children. In particular, it highlights the detrimental impacts of the practice on surrogate mothers and children—including various types of exploitation, harms to physical and mental health, child abandonment, and human trafficking.
