Gender Ideology: 3 myths, 3 facts

Gender Ideology urges the law, medicine and society to treat gender as a subjective feeling, separate from biological reality. This comes with serious consequences for free speech, the protection of children, and women’s spaces.

Why is it important to understand?

The young girl who loses a podium position to a man is not just losing a medal, she is losing scholarship opportunities, future career prospects and the chance for a better future.

The mother who’s in the dark about her school speaking to her child about transitioning isn’t just out of the loop. She is at risk of losing custody of her child if she doesn’t endorse harmful lies about sex and gender the school is promoting.

This is the reality when society exchanges the truth for gender ideology, under the guise of compassion and inclusivity.

Our brochure breaks down what exactly gender ideology is and the common myths surrounding it.

The reality: Women’s sport is in danger

Despite both international and national law, women and girls in sport are being sidelined and put at serious risk, all in the name of an ideology that pretends biological differences between men and women do not matter.

Scientific research and evidence confirm that physiological differences give male athletes a performance advantage that cannot be eliminated. However, the case for a protected female category rests on more than just fairness. Safety also matters – in contact sports and in private protected spaces for women and girls.

Men’s biological advantages vs women

  • Greater skeletal size and limb length mean greater reach and stroke arc in swimming, rowing, and throwing.
  • Higher bone density and structural strength which can withstand heavier loads and collisions in contact sports, allowing greater training intensity with lower injury risk.
  • Significantly increased muscle mass and upper-body strength generating far greater force through the shoulder and arm — the deciding factor in events like the log press or javelin.
  • Better aerobic capacity and cardiovascular output — larger hearts, lungs, and higher haemoglobin levels translate directly to performance — the male marathon world record is roughly 10% faster than the female equivalent.
  • Enhanced speed and explosive power output because of greater fast-twitch muscle recruitment. The slowest male 100m Olympic finalist in 2024 would have beaten the women’s gold medallist.

Research shows these advantages are not eliminated by testosterone suppression.

At all levels of sport, women are losing out on scholarships, career opportunities and rankings. Research shows that some women are deciding not to participate in the first place, for fear of sexual harassment and voyeurism within private spaces, like changing rooms, that were originally created to protect them.

Together with our allies, we are working with institutions to help protect women’s sport and the next generation of female talent.

The reality: Parents and children are jeopardised

Around the world, in and out of the classroom, so-called comprehensive sexuality education or CSE is quietly shaping what children are taught about sex, relationships, and their own bodies – all in the name of gender ideology.

CSE is being driven by some of the world’s most influential institutions, while parents, legal guardians, and the wider public are kept largely in the dark about what is happening behind school walls and beyond.

Our Legal Officer Bettina Roska breaks down what CSE is, where it comes from, and how it’s being introduced into schools and international policy frameworks around the world.
